eliza perez-ollin

eliza qualls perez-ollin has lived the majority of her life in the city of Detroit, and graduated with a J.D. from Wayne State University Law School and a B.A. in Social Sciences from Marygrove College. She is an attachment mother, artist, legal advocate, cultural theorist and singer. A Xicana originally from Southwest Detroit, she developed a passion for racial and social justice at an early age, learning especially from the struggles of her Mexican immigrant family, life in Detroit, and her father`s prolonged legal battle against government officials. She has volunteered as an activist, community organizer, legal translator and liaison, singer, and healing artist providing direct services, advocating for change, and building community for the last 25 years. Over this time, she has worked on many issues including Indigenous power, immigrant rights, LGBTQ rights, increasing access to justice and healing for underserved populations, and working to combat police brutality.
